The Artisans Center of Virginia recently announced that, facing a steep decline in sales, it is temporarily closing its unique retail gallery. The Center plans to reorganize, with an enhanced emphasis on its direct services to artisans and their local communities.
These initiatives include:
- The development of craft trail networks to bring outside sales revenue into rural communities
- An expanded web presence
- Increased educational and outreach programming
- Exploration of partnerships with businesses to expand opportunities for artisan entrepreneurs
